My Relationship With One Direction

It all started years ago. Let’s say 5 years ago because that seems right-ish.

I was in the 8th grade (maybe), and I thought it would be funny to say that I was a fan of One Direction. This was a time when, if you were a boy, it was silly to say such a thing. To be fair though, it still is. When I say it now, people roll their eyes.

Anyway, I thought it would be funny to do this. Of course, I had to kind of back up this statement by knowing some of their more popular songs, so I listened to the ones that were out at the time, like “What Makes You Beautiful“, “One Thing“, and “I Want”. After a while, I thought they were good. “I Want” in particular is one of my favorites.

I don’t think I fully realized that I liked them until “Kiss You“. This song absolutely slapped back then, and it absolutely slaps today. I had it playing on repeat. It’s such an iconic song.

From then on, I was a fairly steady fan of the band, and I just want to give my younger self a shout-out because One Direction became a pretty important way for me to connect with the friends I currently have. I have, at one point or another, talked about One Direction with them, and it’s so fun hearing which songs they like and telling them about the ones I enjoy. People’s favorite One Direction songs say a lot about them.

Honestly, One Direction is an inspiration to me. They make me want to work towards having influence in the musical world, so that I could nudge the boys into at least doing a tour for their last album. Made in the A.M. is amazing. It’s easily one of the top five One Direction albums, and it deserves a tour, in my opinion. You already know that if they were to do the tour, the tickets would be expensive, so that’s another reason I need to get famous. I don’t want to have to pay to get in. I want them to invite me, so I can chill near the stage and watch something beautiful happen in front of me. That album is so good, and I genuinely believe I might cry if I heard them live. Also, if they did any of the songs they put out after the split up, that would be amazing.

I hope that one day I update this blog saying I went to a One Direction concert. Be on the look out for that.
